What WOULD MacGyver do? This rhetorical question has plagued academia for the past twenty years. One asks oneself this question when one faces insurmountable odds against formidable adversaries, but the answer isn't always clear. Usually MacGyver uses duct tape, chewing gum, maybe some floss and paper clips, and fashions some sort of para glider or particle accelerator. Typically something explodes, some sort of lever depresses, and a Rube Goldberg reaction ensues. This much is clear: MacGyver embodies a mantra of non-violence, sound social justice, clean language, and advocacy for a solid science education. MacGyver is nobody's mercenary; he fights the good fight.
